I have never been guilty of down talking an opposing team afterwatching a game. I have never been guilty of saying that Canada isbetter than anyone else. Ever. I have never been ridden with guilt thatI may have hurt someones feelings over a game of any sort.
Congratulations, Canada. 14 Gold medals in the Olympics. I am very proud of you.
But for those of you who are gloating, and saying horridly rude thingsabout opposing countries/teams. I think you really should stop and takea look at yourselves in the mirror. You were giving other countriesheck for being obnoxious and rude about how they were gonna come toCanada and show them how to really play the games. Now, look at you.Canada did an awesome job in the Olympics, yes. But so did the otherathletes. Even the ones who didn't win, that's what you have tounderstand. The athletes that are going home empty handed are going totheir parents and saying: "Mom, dad. I got to be in the Olympics! Andit was the best time of my life!" They're going home to their kids witha smile on their face, only knowing that they got to participate in aworld event. And that is a feeling that a medal CANNOT give. Sure, there's a big part of a medal that you always share, you keep it forlife. But, the arrogance and ignorance that you guys are showingtowards other countries, ESPECIALLY the U.S is only making Canada looklike a bunch of ignorant bastards.
I think the fact that all the athletes that were chosen to participatein the Olympics are all taking home something in their hearts that amedal can't fulfill. The Olympics aren't necessarily about winning. Itbrings people together. Learning to appreciate everyone for each oftheir own abilities to strive to get where they want to be. THEY ALLDID THEIR BEST. NOT JUST CANADA. EVERYONE DID AMAZINGLY. EVERYONEWORKED HARD TO BE THERE. EVERYONE IS TAKING HOME A PIECE OF CANADA THATWILL BE WITH THEM FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES.
CONGRATULATIONS, ATHLETES. CANADA APPRECIATES YOUR EFFORTS FOR DOINGWHAT YOU DID BEST. FOR SHOWING US THAT YOU'RE NOT SCARED TO COME HEREAND SHOW OFF YOUR TALENTS! At least, I do.
An even bigger congratulations to everyone. Happy Olympics 2010. | |
