((The first few are 'songs' written by a bardic character of mine that I roleplay Gwendolyn Arris. I should note that they were written 'in character' and not as myself)) ((This first one was a song written for another character's wedding)) Eyes meet where fever breaks; Hand trembles and body aches...
She asks for romance; He asks her to dance...
This place is familiar for them alone, hand in hand, souls that shone.
Where the whispers flow from heart to heart and one to the other its beating would dart.
One love which fills the air; The same love most wouldn't dare. Can you see it? Feel it? Its magic m'dear, bursting with what our ears can't hear.
From egg to dove; to the heavens above...
From the ashes love burns; and they life's greatest lesson learns.
Intertwined and shamelessly bound; in virtuous kink upon hallowed ground.
To have and to hold; and someday shape a new mold.
One love which fills the air; The same love which most wouldn't dare. Can you see it? Feel it? Its magic m'dear, bursting with what our ears can't hear.
Sing for the spirit of today; when mirth and merry have come to play.
Two by two graced by dance; we come together not by happenstance.
For one and all loud and clear; give sacrifice of joyous tear. **** ~Eyes of a princess~
Oh how the wind sweeps across this frigid tomb, locked in a tower sealed with gloom. The heart in my chest that used to burn withers tonight but still I abide. Lessons in complacency has taught my tears to hide.
In my dreams I see you there, the dreams so distant now it's hard to bear. In my dreams I have the eyes of a princess, shades of rose culling your pain... But still here in my tower I remain.
Day breaks in tired song, where evening falls, where I belong. My mind travels farther then I meant to go, and all it speaks is the same old tune. Come what may time will pass, and I'll see you soon.
In my dreams I see you there, the dreams so distant now it's hard to bear. In my dreams I have the eyes of a princess, shades of rose culling your pain... But still here in my tower I remain.
In the mirror Pandora's reflection is all I see. What pretty lies have made me what I've come to be? Misty fortune preying upon my blighted smile. My knight in shining armor is only iron clad denial.
I have the eyes of a princess, really it's true. You can't see them unless I'm sleeping but I swear I do.
***** ~My Keepsake, My thorn~
The lines drawn across my axioms of faith and falter I do. Weak enough to forsake myself, it was just to see you. One drink further into a bottle that holds my dark desires. My body cries for mutiny, setting to rest close against company of liars.
Cherish the scars, they're all I have now. My keepsake, my thorn, my maxim, my tao. A pyre in my heart but the flames have died, cinders remain as legacy of my cries.
Hold fast to dignity that slips away. I say what my mind needs to hear but I know who I am at the end of the day. No shackles, no chains but I've never felt so bound. Requiem for my pride that rests soundly in the ground.
Cherish the scars, they're all I have now. My keepsake, my thorn, my maxim, my tao. A pyre in my heart but the flames have died, cinders remain as legacies of my cries.
Oh what grace given to me I call to bear. The once placid reflection in a pond offers only a glare.I never meant to get lost in such a place, the facets of my mind trapped asempty space.
Once and for all and all for once.... Fade my keepsake, embrace my thorn, rescind my maxims, but forever my tao.

~A Sword Finds itsShield~
The shape of a sword is all he has known, tempered by fires and all alone. She was a shield, a pillar of steel. She couldn't be hurt but oh how she wanted to feel.
Too far apart, but put them together. A fusion of purpose nothing less than forever. When a sword finds its shield a hero is born. Lovers unite and banality torn.
He wanted embers andshe wanted steam. A destined inferno in their eyes would gleam. He wanted faith and she wanted hope. A fated mountain to climb only missing a rope.
Too far apart, butput them together. A fusion of purpose nothing less then forever. When a sword finds its shield a hero is born. Lovers unite and banality torn.
Most auspicious ofdays they met by chance. For love to spark did not take even a glance. Coiled around hearts untried and true. Within a life was rekindled anew.
When a sword finds its shield, a hero is born. A hero of love, with oaths foresworn.
***** ~Coterie of BrightEyed Wonderment~
Tiny steps of two bytwo; Holding hands and much to do. Adepts of an ancient game; Hiding... Seeking..with passion's flame.
Brother, sister or a strange old dog; It matters not when in a bright eyed fog. Blinded in a flash of a sovereign sort of love; Forceful naivete against hateful eyes above.
A ray of bubbles exploding within the mind; A treasure lost over time for all in kind. The flowery teacup becomes a stein; And a once sweet nectar tastes of brine.
When were bright eyes allowed to dull? If youth escapes me then consider my soul void and null.
***** ~The cage thatescaped its lion~
The duality of my nature is at war. The fierce one kept behind the other's door. Who would I be when I'm all alone? The lion, cage or hag with heart of stone?
At first was the lion brave and strong. It tore into life with zest and song. The playful wanderer met it's match. Held fast by the cage and latch.
The cage held the lion by sorrow's force. Laden with chains crafted at the pain's source. Conflict grew and the lion fled it's home. I became the cage while my youth left to roam.
Day by day I'm still at war inside, only the lion never answers or will even abide.
****** ((The next few are from my first book, and written as myself))
Crossed by stars andbound by fate; Forever young anddevoid of hate. Trickle lament intocraven doubt; Insecurity rose deepin infamy’s tout. Cackle vultures of wantand desire; Throw facets ofinnocence into the pyre. Burning eternally isthe wick of hope; A perpetual bracewith which to cope. Day breaks inflourished bloom; Light chasing backdrab and gloom. Out the window on thehorizon lay; A prolific juncturewithout intent to stay. Enamored by thecinders of what remains; Believing is our roteagainst the chains. ***
Enter slowly, from the door; Come before me, whom I abhor. Dreams of faintly painted pains; Leaves my spirit empty and drained. Forlorn deeds from serpent’s breath; Bring my soul to a place beyond death. From there I wake to a host of dreams; Real though haunting, they aren’t what they seem. In this place of shadows forsaken; My life isn’t gone but my sanity taken. ***** Beckon unto me thy will; Egos of a rotten face. With lamenting the holes will fill. Forever dreaming of a place; To rest upon my weathered bones. Journey no more, I’ve found a hut. And from this shelter I make a home; To slumber in my little rut. All the while dreams will pass; My scattered thoughts, like shards of glass. ****** Porcelain thoughts shatter on the ground… They’re fragile state for pieces bound. Put them together, you request… I don’t know if I can but I’ll try my best. Lift them up and stick them together… My cracked ideas smile at me forever. I look unto them and try to grasp… Why must I break? In my hand I’ll clasp. Holding my creation high… Remember them to keep my eyes dry. ***** Until the dawn upon we wake… A heart ablaze of sulfurous scars… Inside I longed with weary ache… But still my eyes shone to the stars.
Then gazed about in teary plight… I turn to find myself and say… ‘Release me on this longest night.’ A painful reversal to the day.
Dreams while awoken… There lay before me ghosts of the past… Nightmares unspoken… Reality twisted, crumbling fast.
Sometimes we hide from knowing. To faded memories owing.
